There is no assigned book. No written assignment. No project. Just read! Select a book that interests you and enjoy it over the summer. Our Raptors Read! program allows all students—regardless of grade level or course—to select a text that best matches their reading preferences and reading levels.

Please realize that in our attempt to suggest titles that would appeal to a wide range of students, some of the titles may be more appropriate for more mature readers. Thus, we ask you to use your best judgment when choosing a book, and feel free to consult your parents, teachers, or the EHS teacher librarians.

When students return to Eaglecrest in August, they will have an opportunity to discuss their book with their peers. Why? Research shows that the opportunity to discuss readings with others leads to greater enjoyment. More details will be shared the first week of school.

You have several ways you can obtain the books for this program. You can purchase books on your own or you can borrow these books from your local public or school library either in print or by downloading digital e-books and audiobooks through the district OverDrive system.

We expect that all students who will be attending Eaglecrest High School in August will complete the requirements, but we understand that if a student moves into the district at a later date, they will not have as much time to complete the reading. These students will be given extensions by their teachers in August, but these students must still read a book for the Raptors Read program.
